The 2013-14 season will mark the eighth season the Huskers call the Nebraska Tennis Center in northeast Lincoln home. The $3 million complex features 12 outdoor courts and six indoor climate-controlled courts for the tennis teams to train on. Husker women’s tennis is also able to utilize an array of state-of-the-art NU facilities, such as those for athletic medicine and strength training.
On Thursday, July 18, 2013, the University of Nebraska Board of Regents approved the program statement and budget for Nebraska Athletics to build dedicated, on-campus soccer and tennis practice and competition facilities. The $20.4 million Nebraska Soccer and Tennis Complex will include one outdoor, lighted, full-sized competition field with seating for approximately 2,500 spectators.
A 73,900-square foot support facility is also planned to serve all athletic programs with many amenities including showers and dressing rooms, a satellite sports medicine treatment area as well as spectator restrooms and concession stands.
“We are certainly grateful for the support of the indoor and outdoor tennis facilities,” Head Coach Scott Jacobson said. “Having a facility of this magnitude will enhance the opportunity to recruit top talent throughout the nation to this great institution.”
