For more than three decades, Nebraska volleyball has set the standard of
excellence in the sport. From sold-out Coliseum crowds and media exposure to
academic and athletic success, the Husker program is at the forefront of the
sport.
Entering the 2013 season, Nebraska has earned 31 straight trips to the NCAA Tournament and owns a 1,1164-210-1 all-time record. The Huskers have won 30-or-more matches 20 times, including eight of the last 13 years under Head Coach John Cook.
Nebraska has staked its claim as one of the country’s premier volleyball schools over the last three decades. The Huskers are tied for forth among all NCAA programs entering 2012 with three national titles (1995, 2000, 2006) and have advanced to 11 NCAA semifinals, including five since 2000. Nebraska has advanced to the Sweet 16 in 18 of the last 19 seasons.
Nebraska leads the nation in AVCA All-Americans, producing 37 student-athletes who have combined for 74 AVCA All-America certificates. Senior Lauren Cook earned first-team honors in 2012, while fellow senior Gina Mancuso earned All-America honors for the second straight year as a second-team selection after being a first-team pick in 2011. Senior Hannah Werth earned the second All-America honor of her career as a second-team choice after also being a second-team pick in 2010. Freshman Megan Haggerty earned honorable-mention All-America honors in 2012.
Nebraska has had at least one All-American every season since 1983, a total of 31 straight seasons, including 39 in Head Coach John Cook’s 13 seasons. Terri Kanouse was Nebraska first All-American, earning honors from the AIAW in 1980.
